A career across connected industries

Albert Sotero is a Florida attorney and the founder of Sotero Law. His legal name is Adalberto Luis Sotero, and he is listed with The Florida Bar under number 1062273. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in December 2024.

Before entering legal practice, Albert developed a business career spanning insurance, aviation, construction, and emergency-response operations. Those experiences inform the questions he asks about the commercial purpose and practical effect of legal agreements.

The experience behind the practice

Insurance is the longest chapter of Albert’s business career. Beginning in the mid-1990s, his work included program administration, managing general agency operations, underwriting guidelines, fronting-carrier relationships, captive and rent-a-captive arrangements, reinsurance, and claims administration. His largest program focused on nationwide trucking, alongside programs involving public livery, taxi, towing, contractors, and other commercial risks.

Across the life of the programs and agencies, that insurance work represented more than $140 million in combined premiums. It was business and insurance-industry experience, accumulated before his admission to practice law. It informs his attention to the responsibilities that can determine whether an agreement works: who may bind coverage, how funds are reconciled, who controls claims and data, and what continues after a relationship ends.

From aviation operations to project delivery

Albert obtained his student pilot certificate in 1992. He later co-founded FalconTrust Air with his brother and served as general contractor for its terminal development at Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, now Miami Executive Airport. The business included a 22,000-square-foot terminal and more than 100,000 square feet of hangar space. Its development involved county lease arrangements, construction, permitting, financing, and the practical demands of an operating aviation business.

His construction and development background also includes commercial offices, condominium warehouses, aviation facilities, and luxury residences exceeding 12,000 square feet. These experiences support a practical interest in project scope, changes, responsibility, documentation, and the economic consequences of contract terms.

Understanding the client’s position

Albert has experienced substantial commercial litigation from the business owner’s side. That experience helped motivate his decision to become an attorney. Having made difficult decisions as a business owner, he approaches legal questions with an understanding of the time, cost, and operational pressures clients face.

He founded Emergency Sandbag Response and has worked with municipal emergency-response operations. That background informs his attention to authorization, procurement, deployment, delivery records, and the coordination required when services must be performed under time pressure.

Education and professional information

Albert earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, and a Master of Laws in Intercultural Human Rights, cum laude, from St. Thomas University College of Law, where he also earned a Certificate in Admiralty and Maritime Law. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Everglades University.

Experience informs the legal strategy

The practice also addresses litigation involving serious injuries, wrongful death, negligent security, aquatic incidents, and substantial property losses. Analysis begins with the facts, applicable duties, available evidence, and the interests of the prospective client.

Albert’s prior business experience with insurance programs, including commercial transportation, adds perspective on policies, claims administration, and operations. That industry experience is separate from his legal practice following admission to The Florida Bar in 2024.
